UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE / TEAM USA

RAISE OUR FLAG

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is one of the few Olympic committees in the world that receive no government funding.

For the 2012 London Olympic games the "Raise Our Flag' program was created helping to raise funds by giving every American the chance to support their athletes as they prepared and competed on the global arena. Using amounts of $12 each American could buy 1 stitch, dedicate it to whom or what they wished, and then post it to their social feed. The finale result was the combination of all of the stitches to build the actual US flag that accompanied Team USA as they made their way out in the Opening ceremony for the 2012 London Games.

The crowdfunded flag flew proudly over the USA team headquarters during the entirety of the games. Then after the games it was symbolically handed over to President Obama and First Lady Michelle during a ceremony in front of 400 athletes representing the direct support of the American public.
